Attestation


The Consulate attests to different kinds of documents that include educational certificates /mark-sheets/transcripts, marriage certificate, birth/death certificate, marital status certificate, guardianship certificate, police clearance certificate, commercial documents, bank statements, Power of Attorney, translated documents, etc.

Documents originated in Bangladesh must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka. While the documents originated in Hong Kong/Macau must be attested by Notary Public/Court and the latter respective High Court/Ministry of Foreign Affairs before submitting to the Consulate for attestation.

Applicants must submit a photocopy along with an original copy of the documents that are to be attested. The photocopy will be kept by the Consulate for the record.

General Attestation and Power of Attorney

Power of attorney service can be availed by either of the following methods:

  1. Signing the power of attorney documents in front of the Consular Officer of Bangladesh Consulate in Hong Kong; or
  2. Signing the power of attorney documents in front of a Solicitor/Barrister/Notary Public/Commissioner for Oath/Court and latter attested/apostille by the High Court / Ministry of Foreign Affairs;

NB: In case of obtaining the power of attorney regarding land/property in Bangladesh, the document signed by the Consulate must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka before submission to the concerned Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

Requirements for signing the Power of Attorney before the Consular Officer:

  1. Applicant’s physical presence at the Consulate is necessary;
  2. Before coming to the Consulate the documents must remain unsigned;
  3. The executants must present a valid Bangladesh passport/ one who surrenders Bangladesh Passport may show No Visa Required Seal;
  4. One (01) copy passport size photograph for executants and one (01) copy of passport size photo for an attorney;
  5. A Photocopy of the document must be provided to the Mission for the record.
  6. Original and/or photocopy of proof of relationship between the applicant/executant(s) and the person to whom the power of attorney is given (Passport/Birth Certificate/Marriage Certificate/etc.).

Requirements for signing the documents before a Solicitor, etc.:

  1. One (1) photograph of each executants must be endorsed with the document by the Solicitor/ Notary Public/ Commissioner for Oath;
  2. After signing the Solicitor, the document has to be taken to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs / High Court Hong Kong/ Macau for authentication of the Solicitor;
  3. After authentication by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs / High Court Hong Kong/ Macau, the documents are to be brought to the Consulate for signature by the Consulate official;
  4. Attorney’s photograph must be endorsed by the applicant (s) before the Consular Officer;
  5. A Photocopy of the document must be provided to the Mission for the record.
